THE LIONS' MOUTHS WERE SHUT

Generally men regard a den of hungry lions as a place to avoid. Why? Because they do not know how to defend themselves against the destructive forces of animal ferocity there rampant. So most people, not wishing to be destroyed, side-step the lions' den!

This was true in Daniel's time. But King Darius with the force of his human will put Daniel in the den of beasts because Daniel refused to break the First Commandment, refused to petition King Darius as a god, and continued three times a day to petition the living God.

Many who had incurred the displeasure of Darius and his predecessors had doubtless been committed to the lions' den, and so far as we know that was the final chapter in their earthly experience. Judged on the record, Daniel did not have a chance. It was an "incurable," hopeless case, so far as materially thinking mortals could see.
