Some years ago I was living in...
Some years ago I was living in the house of a Christian Scientist, and whilst talking to her one day I said, "I feel faint and am going to fall." She helped me to a chair and then she repeated "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468). I heard every word and was healed of the faintness. It was not until this healing took place that I really understood this statement. Now I hear it read each Sunday at church with a deep sense of gratitude for what it has done for me and others.
I am also grateful for a healing of influenza which took place about the same time. I thought that I should get Science and Health and try to read, although I could not think clearly, but the need was met in another way. This same woman came into my room and asked if she should read to me the weekly Lesson-Sermon from Christian Science Quarterly. I listened until the end of the reading, and felt very grateful for the loving thought that prompted her to give the time to help me. With the help of a practitioner I was soon able to get up and carry on with my usual work.
At another time I had what is called double vision. This was healed while I was listening to the reading of the Lesson-Sermon one Sunday. A section of the Bible reading was from Matthew (6: 24): "No man can serve two masters." I thought, Neither can be lead a double life or be doubleminded, so how can I see double when there is only one Life, one Mind, one true vision? I do not know just when the healing took place, but I think it must have been at that time. A strained back was healed when I saw that God is my support and I could not have or need any other. Discontent, impatience, and other faults have been overcome.
