TRUTH ANNULS THE LIE

During the three years of his public ministry the Master, Christ Jesus, expounded and demonstrated the truth about God and His spiritual creation, man and the universe. He said (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." The Psalmist also exclaimed (Ps. 119:142), "Thy law is the truth."

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy reveals and explains this truth to our age. We may, therefore, by careful and prayerful study of the Bible and this textbook become acquainted with the absolute, unchangeable truth of being, which frees us from the false beliefs of a material universe and mortal man. When this truth of being begins to dawn upon our consciousness, we become increasingly aware that everything which God creates is good, eternal, spiritual, and that anything which He does not create, does not exist, has no being, for God creates all and includes all.

Then the question arises, What about mortal man and the material universe, which seem so real? The answer is that mortal man and the material universe are not, and never were, the truth of being. To mortal sense they seem to be real and true, but they are not. They are a counterfeit, a seeming truth, the opposite of the spiritual fact, a lie. A lie can never change one iota of truth, but a knowledge of the truth destroys all belief in truth's opposite, or the lie.
