MY NEED

A simple trust, forever undismayed;
Courage to face tomorrows unafraid;
Wisdom to choose the better part each day,
Though cloud or discord seems to cross my way!
Dear Father-Mother, well I know my need
For all of these, and also I should plead
For greater kindliness, a loving heart,
A willingness to do my rightful part
In any work for Thee; I need to see
My brother man as upright, sinless, free.
All this I need, but first my prayer shall be:
Grant me a childlike, sweet humility.
