ASSURANCE
There
is one morning moment when the night,
Lingering in the shadows, seems intent
On tracing patterns even in the light,
As though the powers of darkness were unspent.
Yet morning moves unhindered to full day,
The work of day, and having day's full power.
Gathering fearless strength in its own way,
It fills with daylight each noon-seeking hour.
So the calm thinker, knowing God is Mind,
Keeps to his pathway, trusting what he knows,
Conscious that God, whose love is unconfined,
Gives him unfolding purpose as he goes.
He claims this sure incentive, pressing on
As light-impelled as the resistless dawn.
