MIND KNOWS WHERE ITS CHILDREN ARE

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Winston and Ronald were two very happy little boys. Winston's friend Sammy had given him a beautiful collie puppy. The puppy looked so much like a fuzzy teddy bear that Winston named him Teddy. Oh, how he loved Teddy; and the puppy loved Winston very much. Every day Winston ran all the way home from school because he wanted to play with Teddy. Ronald was too young to go to school, so he played with Teddy all through the day. The puppy was full of fun and very gentle with the children.

One cold winter day Teddy disappeared. Even though Winston was nine years old, he felt so bad that he cried. Mother comforted him with these words by Mary Baker Eddy (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494): "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Mother explained to Winston that this meant that divine Love was with Teddy and would care for him, and also take care of Winston's need. But Winston grieved so much for Teddy that he became ill. Mother called a practitioner to help him to see the truth, for she remembered Jesus' promise in the Bible (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Three days passed by and Winston still had to stay in bed. Then on the fourth day the practitioner asked him if he would be happy to share Teddy with another little boy. Winston was generous and loved to share, so he said at once, "Oh, yes, I would."
