Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Mt. Lebanon, dedicated its church edifice at 1100 Washington Road, on Sunday, November 17, 1946. Services were held in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

This church is the fruitage of the seed planted by a small group of earnest Christian Science in 1912. Recognizing the need for a Christian Science church in the South Hills, this group met in the home of one of their number on March 22 of that year. This meeting and others which followed resulted in the formation of a Christian Science Society, which held its first meeting in Boyland Welsh Building, Beechview, on April 7, 1912. The following October the society was reorganized as Third Church of Christ, Scientist, Pittsburgh, and was recognized as a branch of The Mother Church.
