"Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord"

"O Father, Thy kingdom is come upon
earth,
Thou rulest in all Thy creation;
Thou sendest Thy witnesses, telling Thy
worth,
To call and entreat every nation,
With news of Thy mighty salvation."

Thus does a familiar hymn show the joy and importance of true witness bearing. In fact, does the Scripture reveal for man a higher and holier purpose than being a witness for immortal Truth? "Let all the nations be gathered together," we read in Isaiah (43:9), "... let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth." Then follows the great declaration (verse 12). "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God." In the original Hebrew, the word "witness" is closely allied to the word meaning testimony. In the Science of being, therefore, the office of man is ever to bear witness, to testify to, to present evidence of his great First Cause, the infinite Mind which is God, good.
