If we say we believe in God we mean that we are convinced that only along the way of truth and love will things work out properly and for the good of men. To attempt to run the world or to allow if to be organized for selfish ends is a contradiction which brings about disaster and death.
Religion, or Christianity—call it what you will—which does not yield fruits of kinship and kindness is a mockery. It is false. Essential as it is to carry on our organized worship in the various churches, it is no less essential to realize that God is working His purpose out whenever and wherever ordinary men and women are allowing Him to act through them in deeds of kindness and of truth..
