Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

Transvaal, Union of South Africa

The progress apparent during the year in the work of this Committee on Publication is encouraging, and it is very gratifying to report that more interest is being shown than heretofore in the activities of this office by church members generally.

Friendly contacts with newspapers have been maintained, and in some cases increased interest has been awakened. Three of the leading newspapers of this province have reprinted articles from The Christian Science Monitor, giving it full credit. Several other newspapers and magazines also frequently reprint such articles, stating their origin. It is heartening to report that in this province the Monitor is today coming into its own. it is being recognized for its outstanding journalism, and above all it is more and more fulfilling its divine mission as stated by Mary Baker Eddy: "The object of the Monitor is to injure no man, but to bless all mankind" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 353).
