I am inexpressibly grateful to...
I am inexpressibly grateful to God that I was led into the study of Christian Science, given to us through the selfless love and untiring devotion of its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy. In thankfulness for the continuous blessings that have come into my life during the past thirty years from the application of the truths I have learned, I am giving this testimony.
When Christian Science was first introduced to me, I was in a very serious physical condition. Having tried many doctors without receiving any benefit, I felt that there was nothing to look forward to except a life of helpless invalidism. I had been taking treatments from an osteopathic doctor for about six months, at the end of which time he dismissed me, telling me that I would get the benefit of his treatments later; but to a friend of mine, the one who had sent me to him, he disclosed the fact that he had not been able to reach the trouble at all, and that he believed I needed to be helped mentally, because there was so much fear in my thought. It was this diagnosis that turned me to a Christian Science practitioner for help.
I received relief right away, enough to make me cling to Truth as my only hope of freedom. The healing of the original difficulty from which I sought relief was very slow, and there were many times when I was discouraged. However, the quick healing of many minor inharmonies and the loving help and encouragement of the practitioner during all those months gave me the incentive to hang on.
