In gratitude to God I wish to...
In gratitude to God I wish to tell of a healing I experienced a number of years ago through the ministrations of Christian Science.
After an automobile accident, which left me almost unconscious and wrenched my neck so badly that I could not move my head without moving my whole body, I went to an osteopath for healing. I was relieved, but the next day the bones of my neck again slipped out of place, leaving me in the same condition as before.
Not knowing where else to go I went back again, but with no better results. At the third visit the doctor said that if treatment was not successful this time, I should have to lie in a cast and give the muscles a chance to grow firm and strong enough to hold the bones in place. The next day my condition was the same as immediately after the accident.
While I knew of Christian Science, at this time it was brought quite forcibly to my attention, and I was assured that it could heal every ill. However, as I sat alone thinking this over I laughed aloud, for it all seemed so ridiculous to my material way of thinking. To believe that a mental, spiritual treatment could adjust bones and hold them in place until the muscles grew firm and strong seemed beyond what normal thinking could demand of one. Nevertheless I decided to try Christian Science, and so engaged a practitioner. With the first treatment I was entirely relieved, and felt practically well. With three more treatments I was completely healed, and have remained so ever since.
Had this been a healing of headache or stomach-ache, or of pain alone, I should not have given Christian Science the credit, but I was forced to accept the fact that Science treatment had put the bones of my neck back into place and held them there, and that I was perfectly healed although no human hand had touched me.
This undeniable proof demanded that I find out for myself what Christian Science is, and my reward has been far beyond anything I could have imagined at the time of commencing the study of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and her other writings. This study opened a new world to me, and I soon became a member of a branch church and then of The Mother Church; and I have since had class instruction.
Even as I write this testimony I feel doubly blessed for having done so. I feel that I have been remiss for withholding it so long. I am grateful to God for Christian Science, and to Mrs. Eddy for her part as revelator.—John Davis, Los Angeles, California.
