Heaven Here and Now

Much has been written regarding the present possibility of heaven on earth, of the living presence of Life, Truth, and Love, and of the present perfection of God's creation. As students of Christian Science we need to be constantly aware of our present great opportunities to recognize and demonstrate these scientific truths.

Recently a student, after many years of joyous and progressive living as a result of studying Christian Science, found her progress retarded almost to the stopping point. Suggestions of impatience for her husband's discharge from his country's service and for the appearing of a long-hoped-for home in place of temporary one found acceptance in her thought. She fell into a mesmeric dream of planning and living for a supposedly glorious future.

As one by one the minutely laid plans were unfulfilled, her sense of disappointment increased. A Christian Science practitioner then lovingly pointed out to her the necessity of acknowledging and showing forth the present perfection of man, who reflects the joy and fullness of Life and the satisfaction and completeness of Love. The mesmerism of living in the future was completely broken, and it became a joy to her to live in the present. The radiant light of man's present perfection and completeness illumined many statements of Christian Science which she had studied for many years.
