(Twenty-sixth Church).

Twenty-sixth Church of Christ, Scientist, Los Angeles, located at the corner of Maplewood and N. St. Andrews Place, held morning and afternoon dedicatory services on July 7, 1946. A brief history of this branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, was read by the First Reader as part of the service.

The local church was organized in May, 1928, and first held services in a hall at 468 N. Western Avenue. It was very early apparent that larger quarters would be necessary, so lots comprising the present location were purchased, and building was commenced in May, 1929, just one year after the organization of the church. The first services were held in the new building on October 27, 1929.

The organ was a gift from a nonmember, given in gratitude for Christian Science healing. Wilshire Press
