Paul wrote to the Colossians (4:2), "Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanks-giving." In obedience thereto, and with a heart filled with gratitude, I offer this account of some of my experiences in Christian Science.

I first began to read the Christian Science textbook while confined to my bed with an attack of influenza. The book had been lent to my wife and me a few days before. I immediately became absorbed in reading it, and after a few hours I felt the need to read from the Bible because of the numerous references to Jesus and his work with which I was not familiar, never having read the Bible to any extent before.

The medicines I had been using were put aside, and for four days I continued to read from these books. Several remarkable things occurred. First, the suffering from the influenza practically ceased on the first day of my study, so that no thought of physical pain distracted my attention from reading, although I still believed myself to be sick. So engrossed was I with what was unfolding to me that there was little room in my consciousness for the thought of illness. I was healed, and returned to work the fifth day.
