My gratitude goes out to God for the many blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science. This true knowledge of God came into my life while I was quite young. For fifty years it has been my only physician. When I was a child my father heard of this Science, and before he had finished reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, he was convinced that it was the truth for which he had been searching.

I loved the Bible very much, especially the life of Jesus. When I was a child, after coming home from an orthodox Sunday School, I would pray to God that if it was possible to heal as Jesus did I might find that way, live closer to God, and understand the Bible better. When Science and Health was placed in our home, it was in answer to that prayer. We were very happy, as many confusing questions were answered satisfactorily.

We had been reading only a short time when I became very ill. We did not know how to locate a Christian Science practitioner at that time, and since my mother was worried about my condition, I was placed under a doctor's care for three weeks. I took his medicine as directed, but grew worse each day, the pain in my side becoming severe. After I had had an almost sleepless night my father asked me if I would like to give up the medicine and try Christian Science to the best of our understanding. I said "Yes," that I would be glad to trust God for my help.
