Akron, Ohio (Second Church).

Members of Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Akron, at 50 Marshall Avenue, participated in the official dedication services of their church on Sunday, July 21, 1946, in the morning and evening.

The church was founded in 1920 when some members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Akron, asked to withdraw from the congregation to establish a much-needed second house of worship.

A Christian Science Reading Room was established by the members of the newly organized church in 1920 in the Akron Savings and Loan Building. The first lecture given by the church was delivered in 1921 in West High School auditorium.

The cornerstone of the present building was laid in 1937, and the first service was held on Sunday. May 29, 1938.
