I should like to relate some of...

I should like to relate some of the remarkable healings that have been experienced by my family through Christian Science. My mother was at the point of passing on, having been given only a few hours to live, when Christian Science was presented to her by a boy, a neighbor, who told her that it could heal her. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and in a few hours my mother was up and about. Within a week she was performing her duties as usual. From then on she brought up her family of eight children, relying completely on Truth. Countless healings were experienced by the children, and I should like to list a few.

One time while we were living in a small midwestern town my mother was home with three of us, the oldest only ten. We saw a tornado approaching, and my mother was taking us to the storm cellar when my brother of ten said, "Mother, let's go into the house and trust God." Mother asked if we were all willing to do that, and when we agreed that we were she took us back into the house and we repeated the ninety-first Psalm together. As soon as the storm passed we looked outside and saw that the buildings on all sides of us had been seriously damaged, but though our house was the oldest one in town and seemed to be right in the center of the affected area, not even a shingle was disturbed on the roof, nor was anything in the yard touched.

When I was about eleven years of age I fell off a horse and broke my arm. I immediately began repeating "the scientific statement of being" from our textbook (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468) and persistently held to the truth as best I knew how. The arm was healed completely in about two weeks with no other help than Christian Science treatment.
