LOVE
If
I were gifted with such eloquence
I should be classed with the chief orators,
yes, if my voice for sweetness were compared
To the sweet tongues of angels, and could hold
Crowds spellbound with its magic, what of that
If I should not have love, the crowning grace?
Musical instruments might work some such result.
Love is the great verity, law in action;
Love is the endless unison, all joy.
And what is knowledge gathered from the senses
Beside the perfect knowing Love bestows?
And faith, without Love, is that truly power.
Compared with the unfailing power of Love?
Love is the support to which creation clings:
Love is the pure concord; deep is the tune Love sings!
