BENEFITING BY CHRISTIAN SCIENCE TREATMENT

Should you ask someone to help you in Christian Science, you might reasonably ask what you could do to receive the most benefit from the treatment. The answer is to be found in knowing that divine Mind leads each step of the way to a perfect demonstration of the supremacy of God, good. We base our hope and faith upon the spiritual fact that God's creation is perfect, and that healing results in the degree we realize this perfection. As these verities are demonstrated, our faith becomes more expectant, and we acknowledge our right to the appearing of a larger measure of good in our human experience.

Jesus saw that it was God's purpose that mankind be saved from sickness and evil, for he said (John 3:16), "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." To listen to and harbor suggestions that God is not present or powerful enough to save us is to dishonor God. Any temptation to believe in possible failure in the healing work is overcome by understanding that good alone is the will of God, and God's will is done. Jesus declared (John 6:37), "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me."

The degree of respect shown for Christian Science treatment often measures the degree of benefit one receives from it. Since healing is spiritual, therefore of God, it cannot be purchased or taken lightly. Treatment asked for in humility is revered and valued. Treatment that is asked for without due respect for the source from which it comes may not be valued sufficiently to ensure maximum benefit. Christian Science treatment, or scientific prayer, is based on the allness and perfection of God and man and is adequate to meet the human need.
