JOY
Say
not, If only things were different,
I could rejoice: if only I
Could evidence more confident supply,
A happier home, or more established health,
Better relationships—could I but see the wealth
Of Love's provision manifest for me.
And find fulfillment of deferred expectancy,
Ah, then I could be joyful!
Say not, If only things were different!
Think not improved occurrence would bring joy;
But, rather, know it is our joy that brings
Into occurrence all the needful things.
When gratitude and praise our thoughts employ,
We reap unstintedly the fruits of joy!
