I wish to express in some measure...

I wish to express in some measure my "gratitude for physical healings and other blessings resulting from the study and application of Christian Science, as well as for assistance and encouragement from practitioners.

On page 22 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, appears the following statement: "Waking to Christ's demand, mortals experience suffering. This causes them, even as drowning men, to make vigorous efforts to save themselves; and through Christ's precious love these efforts are crowned with success." After a long period of illness I began having treatment by a Christian Science practitioner. At that time I was in a very nervous, run-down condition, unable to get a good night's sleep, with bowel and stomach complications, lumbago, and other physical illnesses. I was absent from work a great deal of the time; and liquor, tobacco, and gambling habits had a seemingly unbreakable hold on me. The treatments by the practitioner were immediately effective. Complete physical healing did not come at once, but there was a marked improvement from the first, and in about a year I was entirely well, and have remained so for many years. The drinking and gambling habits dropped off at once; the smoking habit somewhat later.

Membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church and class instruction are among the privileges for which I am very grateful. Business problems also have been solved through the application of Christian Science.—
