I feel that my written testimony...

I feel that my written testimony is long overdue. When I first found this Science, I had no definite aim or purpose other than to seek whatever pleasure or gain I could find through matter.

The first healings I experienced, those of smoking and drinking, were outstanding to me. They were accomplished through my initial reading of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This reading took approximately two weeks, and I suddenly realized that I had not smoked or taken a drink of liquor during this period. There has been no desire to indulge in either practice since that time. Our Leader writes on page 2 of "Rudimental Divine Science": "Healing physical sickness is the smallest part of Christian Science. It is only the bugle-call to thought and action, in the higher range of infinite goodness."

I should also like to express gratitude for the healing of stomach ulcers. This was brought about shortly after I began the study of the textbook, and it has been permanent. On one occasion a dispenser which I was working with suddenly came apart, filling my eyes with hot grease. I rinsed them out with water, and clung to the thought that seeing is a spiritual quality and cannot be dimmed or impaired. This thought enabled me within the hour to return to my work. I had no aftereffects from this experience.
