Because I eagerly look forward...
Because I eagerly look forward to reading the testimonies of healing in the Christian Science periodicals, and because I have received help and inspiration from them, I should like to contribute my own expression of gratitude.
When I was a small child my family was introduced to Christian Science through my mother's healing of diabetes. My sister and I were placed in the Christian Science Sunday School, where we received instruction and learned how to make the truths taught practical in everyday living. As I look back over this period, I realize what a wonderful sense of freedom I had. When discord did present itself, the application of the truths so lovingly and conscientiously taught by my parents and Sunday School teachers quickly healed the condition. Probably the freedom from fear was the most valuable gift, for in retrospect I can see that I had no fear of failure in any good and worth-while activity and no fear of sickness or accidents.
A well-remembered healing is the following. I was working in a large university when a rash appeared on my face. When others in the office voiced the thought of contagion, I agreed to a diagnosis and was sent to the physician in charge of the university health department, who had been told that I was a Christian Scientist. He pronounced the condition a superficial skin infection, very prevalent at the time among members of the university. He stated that he would have to ask me to remain at home unless I was willing to submit to treatment as prescribed by him. He also prophesied that the infection would spread unless so treated. I told him I would, have Christian Science treatment and report back to him for further examination. This occurred on a Friday, and on the following Monday when I reported to him he assured me that I was healed, gave me permission to return to work, and added that it was a marvelous healing. I was very grateful, especially to the practitioner who helped me at that time.
