Light
It
did not matter that for four long days
Had Lazarus lain within the darkened tomb;
The Master came, and spoke, and in amaze
They saw him triumph over death and gloom.
It need not matter that a shadowed place
Has long been closed against the light of day;
For when the sunlight enters, every trace
Of gloom and darkness vanishes away.
It need not matter that one may have been
In bondage long to sickness, fear, or sin;
All these can vanish in a moment, when
The light of healing truth is welcomed in.
For death and darkness, sickness, sin, and fears
Have no reality, no power or might;
When this revealing truth to man appears,
He knows that God is everlasting light.
