Excerpts from Letters Concerning Christian Science Wartime Activities

[From a Serviceman in the United States Maritime Service]

For the past two and a half years I have been an instructor at a maritime training station and have had the privilege of attending the weekly Christian Science meetings conducted by a Christian Science Wartime Minister. These meetings have done an immeasurable amount of good, and for this I am grateful. I wish to thank The Christian Science Board of Directors of The Mother Church for their wise and loving support of this activity; I wish to thank the Camp Welfare Activities for carrying out this healing work; and I especially wish to express gratitude for the faithful help of a devoted Wartime Minister.

I owe much to this activity, for through its healing channels a great deal of good has come into my life. With the loving help of the Wartime Minister I was able to find my right place in the service, where it was possible for me to do the greatest good for the greatest number. Several moral problems were also healed through the application of Christian Science. Promotion in the service came when it was pointed out to me that to know more about God is a progressive step in the Science of being, and such enlightenment always improves our human footsteps. I have had many other healings, but the blessing for which I am most grateful is my adoption of a systematic method of study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which has given me a peace of mind and a satisfaction in life that I had never known before.
