I wish to express my thanks to God for directing me to Christian Science, which has freed me from a belief in the necessity of a lifetime of limitation, and was the means of a wonderful healing through divine Mind alone.

In the first World War I received a gunshot wound in the upper arm between the elbow and shoulder, the bullet passing through the bone and shattering it badly. For more than twenty-seven years I had so many operations that I lost count of them. My sister, who is a Scientist, persuaded me to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I had not been reading it very long when my arm became inflamed again. My understanding was very slight, but I am thankful to say I had unwavering faith in Science. So I decided I would take a radical stand for it.

In about a week, after much suffering, I had what to me was a wonderful demonstration of mental surgery. The wound opened while I was asleep, and I was immensely relieved. It was the first time this had occurred without an operation.
