Christian Science Healing

Is there a student of Christian Science who has long and earnestly prayed to God for healing, and still believes that he is not free from disease and pain? Has he, perhaps, been going from one to another, hoping that someone will succeed in taking away his burden, in freeing him from his ill? Perhaps he has been believing in aggressive suggestions of persecution belittling, reviling, which have seemed to leave their mark in a deeply wounded spirit through his failure to forgive and forget.

If this be the case, let him be reassured that he can awake from his belief in the reality of evil as others have awakened under similar circumstances, and avail himself without a moment's delay of the demonstrable fact of man's oneness with God, good, and all that oneness includes—health, happiness, intelligence, energy, power, and resources. Time is not required in the knowing of that which is real and true. It does not take time to know that the sun shines, or that the stars are fixed in the heavens.

The same divine law that governs the universe controls the health, success, happiness, and freedom of man. No one knew this better than Jesus, the master Metaphysician. Through his spiritual understanding of the law of God good, the All-in-all, he overcame man-made laws and systems, medical edicts, disease, and death. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, explains the infallible method which Jesus used in healing. She writes in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 476, 477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick."
