Excerpts from Letters Concerning Christian Science Wartime Activities

I From a Naval Lieutenant

The fa ct that Christian Scientists at the Navy base in the Admiralty Islands were able to hold Sunday services from the time they first landed was due in large part to a Christian Science Wartime Worker in the United States who looked up these men at their training station and put them in touch with one another.

With this nucleus the group grew by the attendance of Christian Scientists from near-by units and men from ships visiting the harbor. The latter frequently voiced their happiness at being able to attend a Christian Science service, saying in some instances it had been several months since they had had an opportunity to do so. Wednesday evening meetings were added, and Sunday services were held at the hospital chapel as well as at the base chapel.
