My first healing in Christian Science...
My first healing in Christian Science, which occurred four years ago, has been permanent. I had suffered poor health for a long time; finally it culminated in acute sciatica. After I had endured months of agony, the two doctors who had earnestly tried to help me told me I must be placed in a plaster cast for an indefinite period of time and that they could not assure me that I would be healed.
In desperation I telephoned a practitioner to whom I had been advised to go by a friend some time before. She told me to read the first chapter of Genesis in the Bible and the definition of "wilderness" in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 597). While reading these I fell asleep, and awoke an hour or so later refreshed, and with the pain completely gone. I arose and dressed, deeply grateful to God for the blessings received and expecting more of good to unfold. I have had many other healings, but this one will always be to me as a light shining in the darkness.
Spontaneous and sincere acknowledgment of my healing was made by the physicians who had attended me, as well as by the druggist who had filled many prescriptions, and by my neighbors and family.
