Church Dedications
Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.
Sacramento, California (First Church).
First Church of Christ, Scientist, Sacramento, held three dedicatory services on Sunday. November 19, 1944. At each service a brief history of the progress of the church was read.
Christian Science was brought to Sacramento in 1887, and services were held in various halls until 1899, when First Church became a recognized branch of The Mother Church. In 1904 a church was purchased at Fourteenth and K Streets. Later this property was sold, and a lot on Twenty-third Street, between K and L Streets, was purchased in 1909. The new church was completed in 1910, and dedicated in 1914.
