The Cause of Christian Science...

The Cause of Christian Science means a great deal to me, since without it I should not be here today. Certainly the pure teachings of Christ Jesus, as brought to light by Mary Baker Eddy in her discovery of Christian Science in 1866, are healing untold numbers of people each day.

My first knowledge of Christian Science came when, as a young boy, I saw my mother instantaneously healed of tuberculosis. I remember crossing the main street of a western city, where she had been sent for her health, and seeing her sink down in the middle of the car tracks. She was later revived, and that afternoon she went to a Christian Science practitioner, and was healed in one treatment. She lived for twenty-seven years after that.

Several years after my mother's healing, I became very ill with the same disease and was not expected to live. With the faithful help of Christian Science practitioners, I made some progress, but one afternoon I seemed to be going through the last stages of earthly existence. By this time I had full confidence in Christian Science because the doctors obviously could do nothing. Being too weak to read myself, I asked my mother to read to me. I listened for a long time, and eventually fell asleep. I awoke later that evening a well boy. This occurred thirty years ago, and the healing has been complete.
