On many occasions I have found that gratitude for the healings given in the testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals has helped me to overcome similar errors for myself. I now feel that I should express my thankfulness in this way for the many healings I have experienced through the ministrations of Christian Science during the last twenty-three years.

When I began the study of this wonderful teaching I was in very poor health, having given up my business post because of continued absences on account of sickness. I was suffering from rheumatism and general debility caused by repeated attacks of influenza, and it was difficult to live anything approaching a normal life. Christian Science was presented to us by a friend, and with the valued help of a kind practitioner, and my own study, I was quickly led out of this depressing condition. Soon I was able to undergo any kind of physical exertion I needed to without fatigue.

After a few months I took another position, where I have remained ever since, and for more than twenty years I have not been absent a whole day on account of sickness. Many times during that period error has tried to insist that I should remain in bed, but each time the sickness was overcome quickly enough to enable me to be in my right place. Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 116), "Never absent from your post, never off guard, never ill-humored, never unready to work for God,—is obedience." I have found that the greater our desire to be obedient to our dear Leader's admonition, the easier it is for us to make our demonstrations.
