That We Be Born Again
Dear
Father, God, where we may be,
In lands unknown, in jungle maze,
On desert sand or stormy sea,
To Thee we turn in loving praise.
Amid the flight of wings in air,
On untried roads through miry fields,
In fog or rain or icy snare,
There too Thy presence saves and shields.
And we at home, keep us alert.
Free us from thoughts of pettiness,
Of selfish needs, or feelings hurt,
Or burdens borne as somethingness!
We pray that we be born again,
That Spirit's lessons we shall learn.
May thought ascend from earthly strain,
And always Thee and Thine discern!
