For a long time I have wished to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science, for the joy, freedom, and inward poise that it has given me.

I turned to Christian Science ten years ago, seeking freedom from fear, pain, and a heavy sense of depression. At that time I suffered constantly from backache, caused by a misplaced organ. The doctor had told me this could never be corrected, because a weak heart condition made it impossible to operate and replace the organ. He strongly advised me to rest and forgo all activity, in order to avoid fatigue and prevent the condition from becoming malignant. It was a tedious and depressing period, indeed, because I had always enjoyed being active.

One evening an old acquaintance was speaking of Christian Science, and a remark that she made stayed with me all the next day recurring over and over again as a bright gleam of hope. That remark was, "God is my Life."
