Courage
I thank
Thee, God, for shining strength to see
Beyond the sick, unloving, hateful thought.
To man's true individuality;
And, where the senses' age-old battle's fought,
For the persistent patience to see good
As my identity, to manifest
The perfect love of Thine own motherhood;
For help to rise unwavering to the test
When poverty would seek to rob my scene
Of radiant joy from Thy omnipotence;
For holy courage where I dwell serene,
Above war's cruel greed and indigence.
God, guard my lamp of courage; let me be
An instrument of Truth's supremacy.
