Excerpts from Letters Concerning Christian Science Wartime Activities
[From a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy]
During the present hostilities I have received great help from the pocket editions of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings. These I have always been able to have at hand on the bridge to aid in keeping my thoughts alert and clear in times of crisis. Many times I have been on apparently hazardous operations, including the Norwegian campaign and Dunkirk, in the latter of which my destroyer was bombed and sunk.
Later I had another apparently miraculous escape when my next ship was torpedoed and sunk in the Atlantic. On all occasions I was able to keep my thoughts aloof from threatening danger.
