Some Points on Lecture Preparation

The giving of a Christian Science lecture is an activity of love, collectively expressed. The membership unites in giving it. It is an evidence of unselfed affection towards our neighbor and a desire to bring to his attention the spiritual fact of his sonship with God.

In doing our metaphysical work for our lectures, the same protective work that was done by the Master in regard to those who came to him for help and healing may be followed by us. In the sixth chapter of John's Gospel, Jesus' words are recorded as follows: "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.... No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him." Here is a perfect example of how our Master worked metaphysically, with both denials and affirmations.

In like manner we can know and realize that those who are ready for the truth are drawn to our lectures through the same divine law that drew those countless thousands to the feet of the Master. It is for us to know that they will not be disappointed, but that the casting out of error and the healing of the sick will take place. It is in accordance with God's law that this light should be received by the receptive thought, and a Christian Science lecture is a right means towards this end.
