Refinement
The progressive student of Christian Science finds great comfort in those words of Job: "He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold." Gold is precious, but its value and purity have to be tested by fire in order to remove every trace of those foreign elements which would appear to be a part of the metal itself and to hide its beauty. We read in the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 15):
As gold by fire is tested,
Its purity shown forth,
So cleansing fires of Truth may prove
To man his native worth.
