Rejoicing in the Truth
When men learn to love Truth for its own sake, impersonally and impartially, and because they know that it is the only permanent good, they exercise a potent and purifying influence in the world.
Many believe that they love good and hate evil, yet in fact they only love the kind of good which is in line with their human will and desire. The evil of prejudice, of self-indulgence, of selfishness, which fits in with their scheme of things, they do not hate at all.
Only he who is disciplined in alertness, trained in spiritual honesty, instructed in scientific analysis of motive and action, who has the judgment to know what is right and the courage to abide with it, can be said to love good in ways that will serve and preserve it.
