Reading Room Notes

The Sentinel of May 29, 1943, carried an invitation to members of The Mother Church, and particularly librarians, to contribute, from time to time, helpful, healing experiences in our Reading Rooms. The invitation still stands, and contributions should be sent to the Journal and Sentinel Editorial Department. The following are excerpts from reports received from Reading Room librarians of The Mother Church and branch churches.

A woman having some time to spare before continuing her journey, and being in great need of help mentally and physically, came to a Christian Science Reading Room. She read for a while, and then told some of her troubles to the attendant. Truth took care of the situation, and the woman continued on her journey, declaring gratefully that she felt like a different person, uplifted, strengthened, and free from pain.

A young woman visited our Reading Room three or four times a week for several months. Many times she expressed gratitude for this privilege. The change in her expression during that period was remarkable. Her joy increased as her gratitude deepened. On one visit she related that she was a patient of the State Hospital and was at that time staying at a private home, but was still under observation. She was not happy there and wanted to find a different place to live.
