A long time ago a carpenter, walking by a certain lake, saw some fishermen busy in their boats. . . . The carpenter called out. "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." They all waded ashore, and their training began at once.
He spoke with divine authority. Evil spirits obeyed his stern command; all one evening [the disciples | watched him heal the sick; next morning he was gone, and they found him alone in prayer. In addition to these demonstrations there were many class instructions. Then he sent them out by themselves to deliver his message to teach and to heal in his name. He assured them that they could do it. They started out, and it worked. They accomplished results. . . . The Lord appointed other seventy also and sent them out in pairs. . . .
