Are We Praying and Praising?

More things are wrought by prayer
Than this world dreams of.

So run the familiar lines of the beloved poet. Tennyson. Today, as never before in mortal history, the whole human family is "standing in the need of prayer," to quote a familiar Negro spiritual. Those peoples blindly immersed in the hypnotism of despots need the awakening which righteous prayer to God would bring. Free men, enlisted in the grim and unlovely business of checking international gangsterism, are daily "standing in the need of prayer." The national executives, the legislators, the jurists of every land, need the strength, the wisdom, the guidance and protection which can come only from an intelligence higher than the human. The defense workers, the housewives, the children of this disturbed hour, need as never before the steadying and sustaining which can be assured only when the divine Mind is sought and stationed at the helm of thought.
