It is with deep gratitude and the desire to comfort others that I testify to the help Christian Science was to me when my husband passed on.

I turned absolutely to Christian Science, for mortal mind was not only telling me that I had lost love, friendship, cheer, and companionship, but that I had lost my supply as well, since I was again having to earn my living. The first thing I realized was that since God is Love, I could not lose love; neither could I lose joy or cheer. It was very necessary for me to know this, for I feared the loss of these more than anything else.

It was just over a year after this experience that my right work unfolded. During that time I had many difficulties to overcome. At times a most extraordinary sense of emptiness tried to overwhelm me, but I clung with all my might to God as Love. The thought of God as our tender, loving Mother brought me a wonderful calm and inward joy on those occasions, and I felt comforted. During those months I often awakened at night with a feeling of joy and happiness far beyond anything I had known before.
