In his book, "Mary Baker Eddy: A Life Size Portrait." Dr. Lyman P. Powell includes a brief letter written by Mrs. Eddy to one of her students in which she says: It is a grave mistake not to do quickly all that is worth doing. delay gives all away, under our circumstances." No longer should I delay to send in my written testimony of the power of Christian Science to redeem the human life, although I have many times expressed my gratitude at Wednesday evening testimony meetings.

Years before the light of Christian Science dawned in my life I yearned for the true understanding of God. Often the words and music from the beautiful oratorio "Elijah" would come to my thought: "O, rest in the Lord: wait patiently for Him, and He shall give thee thy heart's desires." Longingly I waited, and then when hope had sagged lowest I talked with a faithful Christian Science teacher, and my healing in Christian Science began.

At that time, now more than thirty years ago. I was expecting the birth of my first child. I had been reared by Christian parents, but the orthodoxy of the church had been unable to meet their needs, and I had lost faith in a teaching which had no "signs following such as Jesus promised to his followers. Material medicine and hygienic treatment had failed to bring health, and philosophy was useless when I felt too ill to care longer about speculations which never had satisfied.
