(Second Church)

Second Church of Christ, Scientist. Halifax, was dedicated on Sunday morning and evening, October 17, 1943.

On December 26. 1920. the first Sunday services were held in rooms at the Y. M.C.A., Clare Hall. Afterwards, larger rooms were necessary and the move was made to the Literary and Philosophical Society. Harrison Road, the first services being held there on January 9. 1921.

The group was first recognized as a Christian Science Society. On February 13. 1923. notification was received from The Christian Science Board of Directors that the society had been recognized as Second Church of Christ. Scientist. Halifax.

Meanwhile, the building committee was looking out for a suitable site upon which to build. An estate known as Park House, Aked's Road, was found, which had an area of about 1460 square yards, and a church edifice was built. The house itself was utilized as a Sunday school and Reading Room. The first services were held in the new church on Sunday. July 6. 1924.
