We do not earn the love of other nations by setting ourselves up above them. We have a national complex about saying that we have the "largest" or the "finest" or the "greatest" in the world. We may think so, but others believe the same of their country. . . .

But what of this other kind of patriotism which is an all-embracing love of our fellow men? This is the patriotism of the Christian, the patriotism which puts God before country, and which, as a result, attains its highest expression through Him. We are told that "God so loved the world"—not China, not Russia, not Europe, not America, but the world.
