It is with great gratitude that I acknowledge the healing power of Christian Science.

From early childhood I had suffered from stomach trouble, pronounced by physicians as hereditary. After being under their care for many years, I was told that they had nothing further to offer than to suggest that I take morphine when the pain became very intense, and that I leave school and take a position that would permit me to do a great deal of walking out of doors. However, five years later, I became too weak to do much walking, and it was necessary to take a leave of absence from my work.

I went to visit an uncle, who had been healed in Christian Science of almost total blindness. When he saw my condition, he said, "God never made a sick man, and you can be healed through that knowledge." I did not want what I then thought Christian Science to be, but that evening, when I seemed to be passing on, I cried out for help. My uncle then told me about God and His idea, man, and about the truths taught in Christian Science. He gave me a silent treatment, and when I awoke the next morning I said that I was hungry— something that had not been the case for years. I was healed.
