The Mayor of Baltimore, quoting Benjamin Franklin's appeal to the Constitutional Convention to open its sessions with prayer, asks the citizens of that city to observe every day a minute of silent meditation.

The practice of praying before embarking on any undertaking, or in the midst of stress, has proved its value both for individuals and nations. The Bible is full of such instances, and countless men and women know from personal experience the good derived from prayer.
