Out of Darkness
Should
the darkness seem to linger
And the morning light be gray.
Face the dawn and take one footstep,
Though but dim the chosen way.
For the upward way is outlined
By the distant, growing light,
And each single step brings nearer
To a place of clearer sight.
Bright the morning star is shining,
And the eastern sky is gray:
To the pilgrim looking upward
It is promise of the day.
